“…this newly forged alliance continues our commitment to nurturing and supporting emerging artists and enabling a new generation of musicians.”

Rough Trade announces brand new partnership with Marshall Group.

Rough Trade is excited to partner with an original giant of British audio, Marshall

The holistic partnership aims to further bolster Rough Trade’s vibrant in-store event programming across four of its six UK stores by sponsoring its live in-store programme.

Marshall will provide all live spaces at Rough Trade East, Nottingham, Bristol and Liverpool, with bespoke Rough Trade x Marshall branded backline and Natal drums.

The collaboration will also help nurture the engaged artist and music fan communities across all Rough Trade locations, leveraging the collective ethos of two modern heritage brands and their shared commitment to cultivating the current and future generations. The 60-year-old brand will run a selection of workshops in an accessible setting and co-produce educational content on key industry topics with a ‘look back to look forward’ approach, investing their deep knowledge of audio recording and the wider industry.

From today, Rough Trade customers can also get their hands on a selection of Marshall products in-store and online, and Rough Trade listening stations will be equipped with the brand’s headphones, offering fans a truly immersive experience.

“We are incredibly excited to be working together with Rough Trade. It’s the perfect partnership as we share a joint vision in supporting the independent music community. For Marshall, this newly forged alliance continues our commitment to nurturing and supporting emerging artists and enabling a new generation of musicians.”

Nick Street, Chief Marketing Officer at Marshall Group

Beginning in a small Hanwell drum shop in the 1960s, where Jim Marshall sought to give then-local guitarists the sound they wanted, the result was the JTM45, an amp that reverberated with a much heavier sound than anything ever heard before. In a twist of rock and roll fate, those guitarists would go on to revolutionise music forever.

The brand also launched its own record label in 2016 to support young musicians such as Nova Twins (Rough Trade Albums of the Year 2022), as well as a live agency and recording studio in 2021.

“Rough Trade teaming up with Marshall is all about championing authentic music experiences. Blending Marshall’s unmatched expertise in trusted audio equipment with Rough Trade’s iconic status as a beloved music hub for fans of all genres, creates an exciting fusion of premium sound, knowledge and unparalleled curated content. Together, we aim to elevate music enjoyment and accessibility for fans across our stores and beyond.”
