On Sept 7, 1985, David Bowie and Mick Jagger were No.1 on the UK singles chart with their version of the 1964 hit ‘Dancing In The Street.’ The song had been recorded as part of Live Aid. The original plan was to perform a track together live, with Bowie performing at Wembley Stadium and Jagger at the JFK Stadium, until it was realized that the satellite link-up would cause a half-second delay that would make this impossible.
On Sept 7, 2016, The Chainsmokers featuring American singer Halsey were at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Closer’. The song stayed at the top spot for 12 consecutive weeks and topped the charts in more than ten countries. The song went on to become the first song to spend 26 weeks in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
